DMK working president and Leader of Opposition, M K Stalin coming down heavily on the attack, said, “Though there may be differences in ideologies among the political parties, such kind of incidents cannot be tolerated.” Stalin also blamed the ruling party stating that the incident was a revelation of the shoddy law and order situation prevailing in the state.

Expressing his strong disapproval, state secretary of CPM G Ramakrishnan said, “It is an undeniable fact that the CPM is always working for common people. When there was a communal riot in the past year, it was the CPM, which reached out to affected people and created communal harmony.”

Ramakrishnan, also noting that such incidents were on the rise in Coimbatore in the recent past, added, “The government should take strong action to put an end to this issue by arresting those involved in such attacks.”

Condemning the incident, VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan stressed that communal activist groups should be put behind the bars under National Security Act (NSA). “It is shocking that such groups have a hurled petrol bomb at the CPM office and it is a clear indication that Coimbatore has become a ‘communal zone.’ It is also because that the CPM has been playing a major role in ensuring communal harmony there,” Thirumavalavan said and demanded the government to protect the state from such communal forces.

Similarly, MDMK general secretary Vaiko also has registered his condemnation. “General secretary of the CPM Sitaram Yechuri was attacked in Delhi and now CPM office here has been attacked. The police personnel should conduct fair and transparent enquiries regarding this and offenders should be booked,” he said.
