Sources said that the MLAs met Dinakaran in connection with his plan to meet district MLAs to reinforce his hold over the party. He also met MLAs from Theni district including the party’s district secretary and Andipatti MLA Thanga Tamilselvan on Friday and plans to meet North Chennai MLAs on Saturday.
It may be recalled that suggestions, were mooted when Dinakaran supporters met Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanswami at the secretariat. It included due importance being accorded to Dinakaran, who would support the government, presiding over major party functions including MGR centenary celebrations by both government and party and allowing him to visit party head quarters daily to carry out routine work.
With the assembly session now on, members of both factions are at ease with each other inside the august chamber. However, AIADMK (PTA) leader and MP V Maitreyan ruled out any merger in the future.
“Let them settle their internal issue” Maitreyan said referring to groupism within the EPS faction where 34 of the 123 MLAS in the group have flaunted their support to Dinakaran despite finance minister D Jayakumar announcing that the party would have no truck with him.
