Narayanasamy discusses steps to develop Pondicherry port with Gadkari

Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy who is currently camping in New Delhi on Tuesday called on Union Shipping and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and held discussions on developing the port here.

An official release here said, Narayansamy apprised Gadkari that a MoU was already signed between the government and Chennai Port Trust for keeping Puducherry port a satellite port of Chennai port. 

He also informed that the present dredging operations will be completed in the month of July and urged Gadkari to inaugurate the  shipping serve /container service in the first week of August. 

Narayanasamy also requested for financial assistance under the Sagarmala scheme for beautification of the beach and surrounding areas. 

The Chief Minister also requested the Union Minister to extend the Visakhapatnam corridor up to Puducherry to have a better connectivity. 

Narayanasamy met the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and requested him to expedite the release of financial assistance to the tune of Rs 514 crore for various schemes to which the Minister assured to speed up the process.
