The 10-digit computer generated random numbers are allotted to students who have applied for TN engineering admissions. The number will be crucial to rank students with the same cut-off marks. At a press conference organised at the Anna University campus on Tuesday, Paliwal explained to the media how the system worked.
“When students share the same cut-off marks, the number will be based on the priority of percentage of marks in mathematics, physics and fourth optional subject, followed by date of birth, where the elder will be given preference, after which random number is assigned,” he said.
Applicants can get the random number allotted to them by entering their application number on the Anna University website. The rank list will be released by June 22 and counselling will begin from June 26.
Architecture courses:
B. Arch application registration for Anna University and affiliated colleges will begin from June 25. There were around 43,34 applications received this year for National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Around 3,624 had cleared the exam and 2,009 applicants were qualified. Since the 2016 results are qualified for two years, number of students seeking admission might increase.
