The party’s Salem Central District leader SD Kalaiamuthan raised the issue in the all-party meeting headed by the Collector V Sampath on Wednesday evening. Kalaiamuthan claimed that his party had raised the issue many times with proof, but the district administration had taken it lightly. He called the earlier electoral roll revision an eye wash.
“The names that have been repeated twice or thrice in the voters’ list have not been removed even as we have submitted representations in this connection to the Collector and officials concerned with proof,” he added.
He made an appeal to take up the electoral roll revision to be held from July 9 to 23 seriously at the booth level to remove the names of deceased persons and those who have shifted as there are nearly 10,000 such names in every assembly segment in the district.
Representatives of the BJP and both the communist parties also raised the issue. Responding to them, the Collector said the voters list will be scrutinized properly in the coming revision.
