Ramnad to get Rs 2,350 crore mega solar park
Giving a major boost to the solar initiative in the state, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami announced in the state assembly that TANGEDCO will set up an Ultra Mega Solar Photovoltaic Power Park at Naripeyur in Ramanathapuram district at a cost of Rs 2,350 crore.

Besides, a Rs 1,300 crore 400 KV sub-station with distribution lines would be set up at Koyambedu in Chennai in the current financial year, Palaniswami said. Similarly, the 230 KV substation at Taramani would be upgraded to 400 KV at a cost of Rs 710 crore, he added.
Announcing a slew of statements on the power and industry sectors under Section 110 of the Legislature Assembly rules, he added that a 400 KV substation with distribution lines would also be set up at Manalmedu in Nagapattinam district at an estimated Rs 650 crore.
The Chief Minister also said that Rs 1,800 crore would be spent to increase power availability in Chennai by adding 31 new substations, upgrading 314 high tension transformers and adding new 33/33 KV sub stations.
The rest of the state would receive a total of 128 substations including four 230 KV substations 44 110 KV substations and 80 33 KV substations, in the current year. Another Rs 11, 000 crore would be spent in the next three years to upgrade and change existing power systems following an MOU being signed with the Central government’s EESL, he said.
