Talking to media persons outside Bengaluru prison, Dinakaran said, “Natarajan is not the official spokesperson of AIADMK. He is my relative, my uncle.”

When his attention was drawn to Natarajan saying that he had successfully mediated peace between him and Divakaran, the AIADMK deputy general secretary said, “I didn’t watch his interview.

It is wrong to say that he mediated peace talks. I had even met Divakaran during his recent visit to Bengaluru prison. I have no such difference with Divakaran, which requires peace mediation.” He also gave an indication that he was favourably disposed to a merger of the AIADMK factions. Curiously, his feelers did not go well with the rival OPS faction.

One of the senior leaders of OPS camp and party RS MP, Dr V Maitreyan said, “There is no compromise in the two pre-conditions. The family should be kept away from party and Amma’s death should be probed.

Any person who accepts the conditions and OPS leadership can join us.” Describing Dinakaran’s statement as confusing tactic, Maitreyan said, “They are doing it to confuse cadre. Rank and file of AIADMK are with OPS. They will not be confused by such tactics.”

Unsurprisingly, a few ministers in the EPS cabinet DTNext spoke to were keen only on distancing from the issue.
