The water level which stood at 20.09 feet on Saturday morning, climbed to 22.66 feet at 4 pm on Wednesday evening. An official at the dam site said that outflow from the two dams in Karnataka into Cauvery was 4,086 cusecs (2,086 cusecs from KRS and 2,000 cusecs from Kabini).

However, the inflow realised at Mettur Dam was 3,223 cusecs. The inflow was a mere 37 cusecs on Saturday morning before it climbed to 1,000 cusecs with water from Karnataka reaching the dam that afternoon. “With outflow from Mettur Dam standing at 500 cusecs and no sign of outflow from Karnataka to be reduced we expect the level to increase commendably, a PWD official added.
