Minister dares Kamal to prove charges

“Is there any evidence (for the actor) to prove that corruption prevails in various government departments. If so, let him prove it,” the Municipal Administration Minister told reporters here. 

The Minister also asked Haasan whether he was ready to furnish details of tax he had paid for his films. The actor had reportedly said that there was corruption in various government departments in the state. 

Velumani said the actor had never raised such allegations earlier. “It is of late that Haasan started talking about many things without any evidence.... he should collect details before talking about any topic.” 

Reacting to the allegation, AIADMK (Amma) leader and Deputy Speaker in the Lok Sabha M Thambidurai said there was nothing wrong for the Tamil star to approach the judiciary if he had any evidence. 

NEET issue: Thambidurai also added his party would raise the issue of National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET) in the upcoming Parliament session, to protect the interest of the state students. 

Speaking to reporters at the airport here, Thambidurai said the government would continue its fight for the rights of state’s students. Since the matter was sub judice, the government cannot do anything at the moment, he said. 

The state government has been seeking exemption from NEET and in February last the Assembly adopted two bills which sought to ensure continuation of the present system of admission to medical courses in the state. 

The government had contended that over 50 per cent of the questions in NEET were based on the CBSE syllabus and hence, there was an inequality in the all-India exam. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had taken up the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought his intervention to obtain the presidential assent for the bills, he said.

To a query on Sasikala’s jail bribery row, the Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker refuted the allegations and blamed the opposition parties for politicising the issue.
