Deputy Speaker, Minister clash over seat
All are not united in the ruling faction it seems. The rumblings were clearly visible on the stage at Palladam in Tirupur on Saturday during MGR’s birth centenary celebrations. Deputy Speaker Pollachi V Jayaraman and Minister for Housing Udumalai K Radhakrishnan nearly came to blows there.

During the function, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Speaker P Dhanapal occupied the chairs in the middle of the stage. When Deputy Speaker Jayaraman headed to sit next to Dhanapal, Udumalai Radhakrishnan objected to it. The Minister, who was presiding, hurriedly caught hold of the Deputy Speaker’s hand and asked him to move to the second row.
An offended Jayaraman questioned the Minister and a heated argument erupted between them in full view of the public. The Chief Minister and others begged them not to engage in such open fights. Later, Radhakrishnan, who kept staring at Jayaraman, also refrained from mentioning the Deputy Speaker’s name while welcoming the dignitaries. Jayaraman too left the stage as soon as the CM finished his speech. A video of the confrontation is doing rounds in the social media. However, party sources dismissed it as a trivial issue.
