MLA mulls defamation suit against Roopa

Plans are afoot to sue DIG D Roopa for making false accusations on AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala, said Perambur MLA P Vetrivel. The legislator was addressing the media after his meeting with the party’s deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran at the latter’s residence in Adyar.

“The IPS officer from Karnataka should stop casting aspersions on our leader and should withdraw her allegations,” Vetrivel warned. “I had been in consultation with my lawyers on filing the suit against Roopa, if she fails to take back all the baseless allegations she has made on Sasikala being accorded preferential treatment in the jail.

Sasikala was handed out simple imprisonment, and it is governed by a set of regulations which she was complying with. The allegations made by Roopa are ‘doctored’ and are aimed at tarnishing the image of our party leader,” Vetrivel said. He further added that it was likely that there was a bigger scheme in play in Roopa’s actions.

“The video leaked by the IPS officer shows an empty room and then it was passed as Sasikala’s room. This is far from truth, and concocted,” Vetrivel said.  “Roopa should either take back her allegations, or face legal action. I would initiate the legal proceedings in the capacity of the district secretary and as a party legislator,” he said.
