Land issues over, Tirupati highway to be on track soon
After a long delay, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will take up work between Tiruppachur and Tirunindravur stretch covering a distance of 22 km in the Chennai-Tirupati Highways (CTH-NH-205). NHAI said that though they earlier faced hurdles in land acquisition, issues have been sorted out now.

According to NHAI officials, the project has been facing hurdles such as land acquisition on the 22-km Tirunindravur-Thiruppachur stretch. The officials also heave a sigh of relief that such issues have come to an end after four years. Work would resume soon as the NHAI has got the environmental clearance certificate from the state government.
A senior NHAI official said, “It is a fact that we faced a lot of difficulties in acquiring lands and removing encroachment on this stretch and there was also stiff opposition from the public leading to delay in undertaking works at some points.” “Officials should understand the fact that the city has drastically been witnessing increasing traffic congestion.
Since the NH is playing a pivotal role in connecting other parts of the districts and states, any road-related work should not remain pending for long,” said S Mohanram, a resident of Thirunindravur. Athipathi, Project Director of Chennai, NHAI said, “We have completed the land acquisition process and compensation has also been paid to the owners of the lands.
Since there are water bodies long the stretch, we were waiting for environmental clearance certificate from the Public Works Department.” PWD hoped that works would be taken up by end of August.
