Chief Minister distributes welfare measures for diffabled

They are part of the 1,017 TVS scooters which the state government purchased at an estimated Rs 5.98 crore. The Chief Minister handed over modular, reflective folding sticks to 5 differently-abled persons. 

A total of 5000 such sticks are to be disbursed by the government at a cost of Rs 1.58 crore. EPS also handed over the Unique Disability Identity Card to four physically challenged persons, which would help the differently-abled to access and utilise all welfare schemes offered by the state and central governments. 

TN is the front runner in the disbursal of the all India card, an official release stated. This card would soon be issued for all physically challenged persons in the state, the release added. Social welfare minister Dr V Saroja, chief secretary Girija Vaidyanathan and welfare department of differently-abled persons secretary Mohammed Nasimuddin were present at the event. 

Job orders issued to block health statisticians 

To fill existing vacancies, TN public service commission appointed 184 block health statisticians who were issued job orders by Edappadi K Palaniswami at the camp office on Wednesday. While the TN medical services recruitment board recently filled a total of 21,023 medical paramedical and nursing vacancies in the state, this time around, the state public service commission conducted tests and chose block health statisticians who were issued job orders by the CM. 

Exhorting them to work for the welfare of the people in their respective blocks as soon as they joined duty, the CM called on them to ensure that their services reflected the improvements made to the health sector by the state government. The new appointees will be in charge of collecting health related statistics in their respective blocks which in turn will be forwarded to the directorate of public health. 

Those present on the occasion included Health minister C Vijaya Baskar, Health secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan, Chief secretary Girija Vaidyanathan, Family welfare director Dr K Jothi, Director of Medical Education Dr Edwin Joe and Director of Public Health Dr.K Kolandaisamy, an official release stated.

EPS lauds NABARD’s financial aid for TN government schemes 

NABARD (National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development) will provide all its 8 lakh cooperative bank customers with Rupay debit cards, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said while inaugurating the bank’s 36th anniversary celebrations on Wednesday.

Referring to the various schemes through which the bank aided Tamil Nadu, the Chief Minister said the bank planned to provide a Rs 398 crore loan to the state government to ensure supply chain management for perishable vegetables and fruits. This loan would be in addition to the bank’s assistance for dryland development to boost rain fed agriculture, he added. NABARD’s schemes in various sectors totalling Rs 1000 crore would benefit farmers, fishermen and the general public, the CM said. The bank also plans to aid Tamil Nadu river link progammes, including the Tamirabarani-Nambiyar and the Avinashi-Athikadavu schemes through long term irrigation funds, the Chief Minister said and added that NABARD had provided cooperative banks core banking solutions in addition to Rupay debit cards and sanctioning subsidy for setting up ATMs, including the 40 ATMs which were inaugurated recently.
