After BJP national president Amit Shah announced his arrival in the state between August 22 and 25, the party’s state unit has been engaged in hectic activity trying to strengthen its ‘Vistarak Yojana’ programme. Party leaders here said that Shah may meet newly elected representatives and urge them to strengthen the base in the state. Sources said that the BJP in the state has been gaining momentum and party workers are striving hard explaining Centre’s achievement in various fields over the past few years. The high command of the party has instructed the state BJP top brass and second rung leaders to hit the ground running by meeting as many rural households as possible.
KT Raghavan, state secretary, in-charge of media, BJP, told DT Next, “We are focusing on rural people, who are well aware of Centre’s schemes. Further, the Vistarak Yojana programme has also received a good response among the people. We will soon compile the data on the conduct of the programme.” “The national leader may also meet rural people directly,” he added.
Meanwhile, leaders predict that there would be no political gain as far as Shah’s visit is concerned. A Marx, a political analyst, said, “Going by the present political scenario in the state, the BJP has been trying to establish itself as a major political party in the state. However, it will be an uphill task for the party to register good footfall. The BJP is also creating hype about its national leader’s visit but it might not gain politically,” he added.
It may be noted that BJP national president Amit Shah is scheduled to visit the state from August 22.
