The revamped Pregnancy Infant COHORT Monitoring Evaluation (PICME), National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS), Universal Health Care (UHC), Oral Cancer screening and Hospital Management System (HMS) are among the schemes extended under NHM and they will require the beneficiaries to furnish their Aadhaar numbers.
A notification to this effect issued by the state stated that the use of Aadhaar of the beneficiaries for the new programmes implemented by NHM will result in accuracy of the beneficiary’s details and will help in ascertaining identities of the beneficiaries at the treatment facilities (government/private) in a convenient and hassle free manner.
“Department of Health and Family Welfare through Tamil Nadu Health System Project (TNHSP) has inorganically seeded the Aadhaar numbers of a few of its Chief Ministers Comprehensive Health Insurance System (CMCHIS) beneficiaries through the State Resident Data Hub (SRDH) set up by Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TNeGA),” the notification observed.
The CMCHIS data seeded with Aadhaar numbers may also be used by the NHM, for the purpose of identifying the beneficiaries of the new programmes.
“Beneficiaries, who are in possession of Aadhaar, shall register the number towards their enrolment in the respective projects. Applicants, who are not yet enrolled for Aadhaar are hereby requested to apply in any Aadhaar enrolment Centre/Permanent Enrolment Centre (List available at www.uidai.gov.in) to get enrolled. Those beneficiaries who have enrolled for Aadhaar and have not received their numbers should register the 28 digit Aadhaar enrolment ID printed on the enrolment slip,” suggested the notification.
The said provisions will be applicable in all the districts of the state, according to the notification issued by Dr Darez Ahamed, Mission Director, State Rural Health Mission, recently.
