Jayakumar should stop TTV bashing, warns MLA Vetrivel

The rampant factionalism within AIADMK(A) broke out into the open when Perambur MLA and ardent AIADMK(A) deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran supporter P Vetrivel, who was annoyed at state finance minister D Jayakumar’s continued sniping at Dinkaran, said that if Jayakumar continued to ‘annoy’ Dinakaran, he stood a good chance of losing his party and ministerial post.

The MLA’s annoyance obviously stemmed from the fact that Jayakumar interacting with the media after the EPS meet at the party HQ on Tuesday evening stated that the party was not bothered about Dinakaran re-entering politics.

In a quick retort, Jayakumar said, “I have been in the party from 1982 and have been Jayalalithaa’s supporter from 1991 and hence we have all the right to think about the welfare of the AIADMK. Vetrivel came to the party from the Congress and so should not think of imposing Congress ideas on the party which would not be allowed.”

Earlier, after visiting Sasikala in Bengaluru prison, Dinakaran said that people should be given sufficient time to change their ways when asked about finance minister Jayakumar’s statements against him entering politics.

He added that he would support NDA vice presidential candidate Venkiah Naidu as advised by Sasikala. What she advised with regard to the presidential polls also stood for the VP’s elections and so I will support Venkiah Naidu, he said.

Asked about privileges extended to Sasikala in prison, he said, “She has not been extended any special privilege in prison.” “I welcome anybody entering politics,” he replied when asked about actor Kamal’s proposed entry into politics.
