The representatives sought the intervention of the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police in Erode. Representatives of the TASMAC all trade unions joint action committee K Vetriselvan and S Subramanian claimed that the supervisors told the MLA that they would not budge. It was then trouble began on August 3, when goons reportedly reached the outlets and demanded the staff to give the money. The employees alleged that on the next day, the goons began disturbing sales in the shop and also used abusive language. They actually threatened to inflict harm on the employees too.
Despite complaints to the police stations, no action was taken. So, we have sought the intervention of the district administration and the police, the employees added.
MLA Ramalingam refutes the allegations. “I got repeated complaints that the salesmen and supervisors in the TASMAC outlets were fleecing customers by demanding more money and not returning the change. So I had warned them. In order to take it out on me, they are making such baseless statements, ” the MLA added.
