Class 11 board exam model paper released
Tamil Nadu School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan on Friday released the model question paper pattern for the Class 11 board examination at the Secretariat. The new question paper has been designed for 23 subjects, including Tamil and English and 13 vocational subjects.

The government will also open 450 centres where students can prepare for important examinations. Sengottaiyan said the papers will soon be distributed to all schools and teachers will also be trained.
While interacting with the media, he said that the exam time has been reduced from three to two-and-a-half hours. Total marks have also been reduced from 1,200 to 600, where each subject is of 100 marks.
“Even if someone fails in plus one, they can continue with their Class 12 and in June, they can again attempt the subject they failed in,” he said and added, “This is the first time in the history of Tamil Nadu that a student who failed in Class 11 can continue with Class 12. For benefits of students, 35,000 question and answers will be released in two months.”
The question paper pattern for the Class 11 board exam, released by the School Education Minister K.A Sengottaiyan focusses on internals. Every subject will have 10 marks assigned for the same.
Three marks will be allotted in the internals for attendance (above 85 per cent will get three marks, between 80-85 per cent get 2 marks, 75-80 per cent will get 1 mark), five marks for performance in internals, where the best of the three will be considered, and two marks for submissions and project work, etc.
The question paper will be a combination of one, two, three and five mark questions. For subjects with practicals, there will be 20 one-mark questions, seven two-mark questions, seven threemark questions and seven five mark questions, amounting to a total of 90.
When it comes to subjects with practicals where the highest mark is 70, there will be 15 one mark questions, six two mark questions, six three-mark questions and five five-mark questions.
For Biology, both Botany and Zoology will have eight one-mark questions, four two-mark questions, three threemark questions and two five-mark questions.
Vocational subjects will have 15 onemark, 10 three-mark, five five-mark and two 10-mark questions. The Minister further said that they will come up with a blue print of the papers and also release CDs consisting of model papers to help students prepare.
The question papers are designed in such a way that 30 per cent of a paper evaluates the learning capability of the students,40 per cent on comprehension of the subject, 20 per cent on the applications skills and 10 per cent on creativity.
MINIMUM PASS MARKS
For subjects with practical papers, the minimum pass mark for the theory paper is 15/70. This will also include internals and practical marks, (attendance requirement) aggregating 35
out of 100. For subjects without practical papers, the minimum pass mark is 25 /90, including internal component.
Here, students need 35/100 to pass.
When it comes to Language papers, students are required to have an aggregate of 35/100 in both Paper I and II to pass, including internal components.
Students need to score 25/90 in each written paper to pass.
