Petitioner Anazhagan from Virudhunagar had stated that on February 22 this year, the AIADMK spokesperson, in his interview to a private television channel (Thanthi TV), said that the state government would be led by the advice and command of Sasikala.
On February 28, four ministers, KA Sengottaiyan, Sellur K Raju, Dindigul C Sreenivasan and R Kamaraj, met Sasikala. After their return they said that they discussed with her the functioning of the government.
The Chief Minister did not make a statement denouncing the ministers’ meeting with Sasikala in prison.
Thus, they violated the Constitutional provisions, as per which they are not supposed to do so, the petitioner claimed.
In a previous hearing, judges KK Sasidharan and GR Swaminathan had sent notice to the Chief Minister and four other ministers and also to the Speaker, Secretary of State Assembly and the Secretary of Election Commission of India. As the Speaker did not respond to the notice, the judges directed that the Speaker be included as one of the respondents in the case and also sent notice to Election Commission. The case has been adjourned to September 6.
