Petitioner, Jegadeeswaran alias Nasiriya from Ramanthapuram district, stated in her petition that she had applied for Tamil Nadu Uniform Services Recruitment Board(TNUSRB) for the post of Police grade-II and had passed the preliminary examination which was a written examination.

After the written examination, a physical test was conducted on July 31 at Ramanathapuram and during the test police officials demanded to see her medical certificate from a government doctor to prove that she was a transgender.

She had requested them two days’ time to produce the certificate but they had refused to grant her time. Despite that she had appeared before the government doctor at Madurai GRH and had received the transgender certificate on August 4. She thus, pleaded that the court direct the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) to conduct a physical test.

In earlier hearings, the chairman of TNUSRB was directed to file counter affidavit. On Thursday, in the counter affidavit as there was no opposition, the court directed TNUSRB to conduct a physical test for her.
