Two get RI for sexually abusing teens

In the first incident, parents of a 13-year-old girl from Cauvery Nagar near Ariyamangalam noticing visible physical changes in her enquired her and came to know that a 55-year-old coolie Janibhai had sexually assaulted their daughter in January 2016. Later, they lodged a complaint with the All woman police station at Ponmalai and Janibhai was arrested subsequently. According to police sources, the girl was a school drop-out. Her parents had stopped her from attending school as they wanted her to take care of her 3-year-old sister as they had to go out for work. As the girl was alone most of the days, Janibhai making use of the opportunity had exploited her.

The case was in progress at the Mahila Court, Tiruchy for nearly a year. The judge Jecintha Martin, who heard the case awarded five years rigorous imprisonment to Janibhai and he was taken to the Central Prison Tiruchy later.

Similarly, in another incident, Raguvaran (20) of Kavanur in Ariyalur had an affair with a 16-year-old girl of the same locality. Since both the parents did not approve of their relationship, Raguvaran hatched a plan. He kidnapped the girl in January 2016 and sexually assaulted her. Based on the complaint by the girl, Ariyalur All women police registered a case and arrested Raguvaran.

On Monday, the Mahila Court judge, who heard the case, awarded 10 years imprisonment to Ravugaran. Later, he was lodged in the Central prison Tiruchy.
