EPS and TTV factions approach election panel

AIADMK ministers, including D Jayakumar, C Ve Shanmugam and P Thangamani, accompanied by former MP Manoj Pandian and Rajya Sabha MP V Maitreyan submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission (EC) stating that since two factions in the party had merged, the frozen two leaves symbol should be allotted to the party.

The delegation also stated that the party general council scheduled for September 12 would decide on the Sasikala issue. The team also informed EC officials that they would again approach the panel after the GC meet.

Minister Jayakumar later said the news about their inability to meet the Chief Election Commissioner was false as he was away in Romania and was expected to return next week.

Meanwhile, V Pughzhendh, AIADMK Karnataka secretary and a supporter of deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran, handed over a petition to the EC requesting it to not take any decision regarding party-related issues without consulting them.
