College students participated in large numbers in the protest against NEET, across the southern districts on Monday.

Following the suicide of Anitha, the teen from Ariyalur who fought against NEET in the Supreme Court, many organisations protested on Saturday and Sunday. However, on Monday, students took the protests in their hands and led it at various places in southern districts.

Students of Madurai Kamaraj University observed a fast on the campus, demanding education be made a state subject and to give autonomy to individual states to decide on the admission processes. At Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli districts, a large number of college students abstained from the classes and staged protests on their college campuses. At Sankarankovil in Tirunelveli district, more than 800 students of Mano College staged a protest onthe college campus. Similarly, students of various colleges affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University in Tirunelveli abstained from classes and staged a protest in a manner identical across the state. More than 500 students of Anna University at Tirunelveli staged protest on the college campus, demanding that the central government stop implementing NEET in Tamil Nadu. Law college students attached to Tirunelveli and Madurai government law colleges, likewise staged a road roko against NEET. In Madurai, students of various colleges under the banner of Students Federation staged road roko at Goripalayam signal.
