Tamil Nadu Wakf board polls on October 4
The state government has announced election schedule for members to the Tamil Nadu Wakf Board that will be held on October 4.

Election to the wakf board from the state Assembly’s Muslim members and muthawallis, which were notified in the government gazette extraordinary states that filing of nominations will begin from 11 am on September 7 and September 14 will be the last date, the release added.
The nominations will be scrutinised before 11 am on September 15 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations will be September 18, the release stated.
The final list of the contesting candidates will be published on September 19. “If poll is necessary, it will be held on October 4 (Wednesday) between 10 am and 4 pm at the office of the Tamil Nadu Wakf Board located at Vallal Seethakkathi Nagar in the city and with the results being declared the next day (Thursday, October 5),” said the statement from election authority and secretary to the government, backward classes, most backward classes and minorities welfare department.
It is to be noted that the Wakf Board is provided administrative grant every year from the state funds to cover operational expenses.
