Claiming that the BJP regime had hiked excise duty on petrol and diesel 11 times and allowed daily fuel price revision since assuming office in 2014, Stalin said the benefits of reduction in international crude price have not reached the people of the country.

Recalling the statements of the BJP leaders, including the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, when the Congress led UPA regime had hiked fuel price in the past, the DMK working president referred to the controversial remarks of incumbent BJP minister Alphons Kannanthanam on the fuel price hike issue and said the statement shows the indifference of the BJP regime and its ministers.

Demanding immediate action from union petrol ministry to control daily fuel price hike and prevent hike in LPG cylinder price, Stalin urged the PM to immediately revoke the daily fuel price revision policy and ensure that the benefits of fall in international crude price reach the ordinary people of the country.
