Speaking to reporters along the sidelines of a grievance meet, the DGP said that they had received around 1,500 complaints and suggestions for the police personnel from the South Zone and almost all of them have been addressed.

“So far, such grievance meets have been organised under the commissioner, deputy commissioner and SP limits but now they are being conducted at zonal levels as well. This was done to ensure that we get a wider response,” Rajendran said.

Speaking about the new recruits, the DGP said that the 13,300 new police recruits are undergoing medical assessment tests and would join duty within two months after their final training.

The next recruitment process, however, would be initiated after they assess the requirement, he said.

Answering a question about the investigation report on the death of medical aspirant S Anitha of Kuzhumur, Ariyalur, Rajendran said that the investigation is underway and a report would soon be submitted before the human rights commission.

Around 677 personnel attended the meeting and presented their grievances to the DGP.
