Late on Tuesday evening rumours were doing the rounds about the deteriorating health condition of Karunanidhi. The visit of DMK general secretary K Anbazhagan, another nonagenarian in the DMK leadership and senior leader Arcot N Veerasamy to Gopalapuram kept the rumour mills spinning overtime.

However, Veerasamy, emerging out of DMK chief’s residence, told reporters that Karunanidhi was fine. He also advised people not to spread or give in to rumours about his party chief’s health.

Party principal headquarters secretary Duraimurugan, who also visited Karunanidhi said that his leader was better than ever and they shook hands and cracked jokes with the DMK supremo.

Duraimurugan added, “Tamil Nadu (politics) revolves around him. Whether he speaks or keeps mum, things revolve around him.”

Talking briefly to media persons before leaving Gopalapuram, DMK working president MK Stalin also said that his father was fine. Party Rajya Sabha MP and Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi also dismissed the rumours and allayed fears about his health.
