Kovai couple killed by speeding car

Police said, Karthikeyan, 36, his wife Kalavathy, 30 and their son Pranoy, 10 from Karamadai near Coimbatore, were returning on a bike after visiting their relative in Udhagamandalam. A rashly driven car hit them from behind near Marapalam area and crashed into a 200 feet gorge. 

“In the impact, Karthikeyan and his wife were thrown off the vehicle and both died on the spot, while the little boy escaped with minor injuries,” police said.

Wellington police rescued a family of eight persons, who were trapped in the car with minor injuries. They were all sent to government hospital. The bodies of the deceased couple have been sent for post-mortem and further investigation is on.
