Mannargudi clan can’t return to party: Jayakumar
Dismissing the views of Handlooms Minister OS Manian that sidelined AIADMK (Amma) general secretary VK Sasikala would return to the party at an appropriate time as ‘his personal opinion,’ Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar on Friday said the decision of the party to delink from Sasikala’s family would not be altered.

Speaking to the media, the Minister said, “We have taken a decision to sever the party’s connections with Sasikala’s family and it will be final. The family members cannot return to the party again. The decision was taken since Sasikala had become a person detested by the people.”
He also asserted that no Minister, AIADMK MLA or functionary would meet Sasikala during her visit to Chennai on parole. Her visit was a purely personal one and it would not have any political impact, he said.
When asked about Manian’s comments that he would consider meeting Sasikala, the Fisheries Minister said Manian himself had stated later that he would not meet the sidelined leader. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Manian had said he would consider meeting her when she came out on parole. He also supported the views of Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai last week that Sasikala’s family would return to the party.
