A release from her office said Bedi made the direction in response to a complaint by a resident during her visit to Keezh Sathamangalam, a nearby village.
She visited the Primary Health Centre in the village functioning from a private building, which the villagers wanted to be shifted to one belonging to the local Panchayat and lying idle, and also a library remaining unused for years.
The release said Bedi directed the Municipal Commissioner to visit all the buildings and facilities constructed using public funds in the village and asked them to ensure that they were put to use for the purpose they were meant for.
Bedi, who had been undertaking weekend visits to rural areas, also asked PWD officials to prepare a short and long-term plan to desilt the lake in the village, under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
Grievances of the people in all areas could be redressed through monthly meetings at the Panchayat level, she said.
