DMK MLA J Anbazhagan on Monday sent complaints to the Governor, requesting him to intervene in the matter and issue necessary directions for registration of the complaint and transfer of investigation to the CBI.

The complaint, which was also sent to the state chief secretary and home secretary, asked the bureaucrats to order registration of it by the DVAC and subsequently transfer the investigation to the CBI for a free, fair, impartial and independent probe into the same to bring the offenders to book and to save the exchequer from great loss.

Last week, media reports surfaced about the alleged irregularities in purchase of wireless sets to the tune of Rs 83 crore for the state police.

Accusing the involvement of state DGP TK Rajendran in the scam, Anbazhagan elaborated the tender process followed for the procurement and said, “The manner by which the tender has been awarded would clearly expose that Rajendran has abused and misused his official power in awarding the said contract to M/s Motorola Solutions India Private Limited.”

Claiming that the tender has been awarded without even allocation of spectrum by the Department of Telecommunication, the Chepauk-Triplicane MLA said that huge kickbacks were involved in the awarding of the tender and there was gross abuse of official power by Rajendran and other police/government officials.
