The parole ends on Thursday by which time she is expected to return to Parapanna Agrahara prison in Bengaluru. “The medical, spiritual and economic purpose of Chinnamma’s visit had been accomplished and its fall-out will be known at the right time,” a private aide of AIADMK leader TTV Dinakaran said.

Considering the prevailing political situation, the family was in need of financial resources to maintain hold over the party, he said and added that “economic problems” for the faction had been solved by Sasikala’s visit. He further said she also performed poojas and religious rites, besides yagas to “destroy her political opponents.”

When the faction has been facing financial difficulties since the economic resources belonging to them were locked up at various places, Sasikala’s intervention was seen as a boost their financial resources.

Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar, however, dismissed the possibility of Sasikala’s parole visit making any impact on the political scenario. He said her visit was a personal one and it had nothing to with politics.
