Stalin had on Thursday asked the Centre to withdraw an AIIMS doctor who is a part of the central team assessing dengue situation in the state for downplaying the number of deaths here.

Referring to the visit of a similar team during former chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s hospitalisation, Stalin said the AIIMS team has yet to submit its report on the visit (to Apollo). “Like that team, this is also a waste team,” Stalin told reporters in the city.

Referring to the critique of state Health Minister Vijaya Baskar against him during MGR birth centenary celebrations in his native Pudukottai district, Stalin made a mention of the minister’s alleged involvement in the gutkha scam and said, “Gutkha Baskar has now transformed into dengue Baskar.”

When reporters drew his attention to AIADMK (Amma) deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran’s remark that the incumbent regime would end before December and the state would go in for polls soon, Stalin sarcastically said, “December is too far. We don’t have to wait so long. The state could go for polls today or tomorrow.”
