Expressing concern over the death of eight TNSTC employees in the Porayar depot, the senior leader said that the workers have already alerted the officials about the poor condition of the building and urged them to replace the building.

“Had the officials responded to their appeals, these eight precious lives would not have been lost,” Ganesan said. He appealed to the state government to conduct an assessment of the condition of state government-owned buildings and initiate necessary action. If needed, they can demolish them when found unfit, he added. Ganesan also claimed that the decision to establish AIIMS Institute in Madurai is not yet finalised as the state government is yet to submit its report on setting up the Institute.

“Once the state government proposes the place for setting it up, the Central Government will consider according to the eligibility criteria,” he added. In the meantime, he claimed that the central team, which assessed the dengue eradication programmes in the state, noted that they were satisfied with the same.
