Two youth arrested for murder of farmer

The charred body of Chinnadurai (37), a farmer from Narasipuram area, was found in an isolated spot on Thursday morning.  Investigations by a special team of police led by Perur DSP Velmurugan revealed that V Meganathan (20) from Kaliangadu and S Jayakumar (22) from Vadavalli took their friend Chinnadurai for a drink and murdered him. 

“A few days ago, Chinnadurai tried to misbehave with Meganathan’s mentally challenged sister during a visit to his house. This  incident led to a heated quarrel between the friends,” police said. 

Following this, Meganathan conspired to kill Chinnadurai and took the help of his friend Jayakumar. “As they often hanged out together to consume liquor, the duo took the farmer to a secluded spot. While Chinnadurai was heavily drunk, two others stoned him to death,” police said. 

The accused then set him on fire using the petrol taken out from their two-wheeler. The deceased Chinnadurai is unmarried, while Jayakumar is employed in a textile firm and Meganathan is working as a middleman in the RTO.
