The body was noticed by residents, who informed Katpadi Railway Police. They noted the details and then left. Sources said that Katpadi Railway Police then informed their counterparts at Jolarpet, nearly 80 km away.

Though Christianpet is just a km from the Katpadi station, it falls under Jolarpet railway police limits. Hence, the body continued to remain at the same place till Jolarpet officials arrived and removed it at about 10 am on Saturday.

As trains halt at this spot for signal clearance, many passengers, who saw the decapitated body felt offended till finally a retired railway doctor Sharmila, who was travelling by the Bangalore-Chennai Express informed top officials of the state of the affairs. It was then that Jolarpet police arrived and removed the body.

Katpadi Railway Police officials revealed that no action had been taken despite repeated requests to attach Christianpet to Katpadi limits. Jolarpet Railway Police had extensive jurisdiction going up to Morappur in Dharmapuri district and up to Kuppam in Andhra Pradesh.
