Pugazhendi’s quash plea adjourned

The Madras High Court has adjourned the quash petition filed by Pugazhendi, Karnataka state AIADMK secretary and a supporter of TTV Dinakaran, against whom the Salem police had filed an FIR alleging distribution of defamatory pamphlets by him and 16 others against the Prime Minister and Chief Minister.

Justice MS Ramesh, before whom the plea came up, on hearing Pugazhendi’s counsel NGR Prasad and after going through the pamphlets that were furnished, expressed his opinion that the matter in the pamphlets cannot be treated as a defamatory one. 

However, when the Additional Public Prosecutor, who appeared on behalf of the police, sought time for the appearance of Advocate General for arguing the matter, the Judge posted the matter to Friday.
