The District Superintendent of Police Pa Moorthy, who was returning after inspecting the Chettipalayam police station, noticed the two taking money from lorry drivers.

Police sources said SSI Chinraj and head constable Kanagaraj, attached to the Traffic Investigation Wing (TIW) of the city police, had stopped a cattle-laden lorry during a vehicle check and taken money from the driver at the Kallapalayam Pirivu on L&T by pass road on Thursday night.

Informs control room

When the SP had noticed the cops receiving bribe, he immediately stopped his vehicle and held a spot enquiry. Both of them confessed to their wrong doing to the SP who, in turn, informed the city control room about the incident.

Following this, the City Police Commissioner A Amalraj ordered the transfer of Chinraj and Kanagaraj to the armed reserve police.

He also ordered an enquiry and sought a report from the officials of the traffic department. Police sources said that both of them may face further action.
