At the MGR centenary function held in Tirunelveli, Palaniswami inaugurated 192 projects worth Rs 118 crore including the drinking water scheme completed at Rs 68.1 crore to benefit 100 villages near the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant. He also laid the foundation stone for 142 projects to be completed at an estimated Rs 528.9 crore including the second phase of underground drainage work for the Tirunelveli Corporation to be carried out at Rs 289 crore.
Addressing the gathering, Palaniswami said that crime incidents had decreased in the state and he can proudly say that Tamil Nadu is a haven of peace. He also said that the DMK had been complaining about everything in the state only to make their presence felt and to hide their mistakes. “If they are really interested in the welfare of people they should stop complaining and start working for the people,” he added.
The Chief Minister also cautioned the partymen on attempts to divide the party and dissolve government. “We shall take a pledge to stay united and to work for the people to ensure that all schemes and benefits of the government reach the lowest strata of the society,” he said.
He added, “Unlike the family rule in the DMK, the AIADMK is the only party where any cadre can become CM.”
