Remarriage after 50 is quite an option today, thanks to matrimonial websites, the social media, mobile apps, or even foundations across India like Thodu Needa, Vina Mulya Amulya Seva, etc., specifically assisting people in this regard.

Apart from the physical aspect, many who have lost their spouses, crave a companion to grow old together with.

Tiruchy native S. Madhavi (52) and her husband K Chakravarthy (55) met online on a marriage alliance site, and one year down the line, they say it is the best decision they have made in a long time.

“I was very apprehensive at first, because after years of being married to someone else, it is tough to change the mindset.

Even though my first husband passed away seven years ago, it is still challenging to live with someone else. Having said that, my partner now has been as accommodative as possible, to make this easy on me,” she recalls. Her children were equally hesitant as first, she reveals, but warmed up after they met their to-be stepfather. Madhavi adds, “I really needed them tobe okay with this decision, as it would impact their lives the most. I wanted them to have a father figure in their lives, someone who can treat them as his own children, in case something happens to me. He is a widower, but doesn’t have any kids from his previous marriage. Of course, I considered his profession, family background and our level of compatibility before the alliance. We are very happy now with each other.”
