Irom Sharmila comes to Madurai RPO to check passport status
Noted human rights activist Irom Sharmila appeared at the Regional Passport Office at Madurai on Monday to enquire about her pending application. He husband Desmond Coutinho accompanied her.

Irom Sharmila came to the office in the morning and before appearing, she addressed the media in which she said that the visa for her husband, who is an UK national, is about to expire by March, 2018. Before the expiry of visa Desmond will have return to UK and so she too had to accompany him. “I have applied for a fresh passport as my permanent address is in Manipur.
The Manipur police have inquired me on the issue and had not submitted any documents so far,” she said. However, as she had mentioned her residential address in Kodaikanal in the fresh application, local police too carried out an inquiry.
Even though all the inquires have been finished, Sharmila visited the RPO to inquire about the state of her passport application.
