The SR is the official document of each government employee which contains a record of their work including transfers, suspensions, memos issued, leave taken etc. The ten SRs were found missing when the Sholingur AEEO’s was being audited.

DEEO M Gunasekaran, in a note to AEEO, K Murthy, said the missing SRs were evidence of the total negligence of the officer and threatened to place him under suspension, after informing top Education department officials, if the missing books were not located in a week. As a precautionary measure, Gunasekaran also ordered all other AEEOs offices in the district to reply within a week whether the SRs of teachers working in 800 schools in the district’s 20 panchayat unions were safe and accounted for. The retrieval process is now under way
