Red sanders logs worth Rs 10 Lakhs seized
Twenty five red sanders logs worth Rs10 lakh were seized by the Forest department staff on Thursday. Acting on a tip off, a team of Forest officials raided the house of Sundaramoorthyof Chinnathakkai village on the Arcot-Kannamangalam road, near Vellore.

While Sundaramoorthy gave the slip, a car and two two-wheelers used to smuggle the logs were seized.
While 23 logs were seized from Sundaramoorthy’s house, the remaining two were found in a car parked nearby.
A case has been registered.
Meanwhile, three persons from villages near Tiruvannamalai were caught by the AP Forest staff for cutting red sanders trees in forest lands near Tirupati.
The three were identified as Chinnapayan of Polur, Murugan and Suresh of Padavedu panchayat.
Chinnapayan was caught when he was on his way to fetch water. The officials then fired in the air and caught the other two.
