The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) on Friday morning sealed a three-storey building, citing violation in construction. According to officials, the owner of the building obtained planning permission from Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) to construct a building with a stilt plus two floors on South Usman Road. However, the owner violated the rules and built stilt plus three floors. “We have locked and sealed the building,” said an official. Meanwhile, the Real Estate Regulations Authority (RERA) has instructed builders and owners of the buildings to register the details in the website of RERA. “According to the RERA Act, 2017, the owners, builders, real estate people, who take up project for over 500 square metre lands or construction of eight apartments should compulsorily register in the website (www.tnrera.in),” said a press release.
