‘Remove pigs from residential area

Justice S Vaidyanathan in his order directed the authorities concerned to ensure that unlicensed pigs are removed within a week and a status report filed to the Registrar-General. The judge was allowing a writ petition from G Balasubramaniam seeking for a direction to the Coimbatore district administration to take necessary steps to remove unlicensed black pigs from the two individuals by invoking the provisions of the TN Panchayats (Licensing of Pigs and Destruction of Unlicensed or Infected Pigs) Rules. Plea also contended that the duo has also not entered appearance to contend that they are having valid licence and it is periodically renewed.

Justice Vaidyanthan in his order also noted that in terms of rules, licence or permission should be obtained for doing pig business and the authority by notice shall require a person to remove the pigs within the time limit in the notice.
