Judge’s mother accused of branding OA with ladle, defiant
Mother of a family court judge was brought to the Tiruchy district court on Thursday morning for an inquiry by the Principal District Judge against a complaint on inflicting injuries to an Officer Assistant who was reportedly assigned for household works in the house. However, the woman refuted the charges.

It is said, Nirmala, OA (Office Assistant) of the family court Judge Thilagam was reportedly assigned to do household works in the judge’s house.
She came up with a charge that the judge’s 84-year-old mother Vimala Devi had branded her with a hot ladle on December 8. This had created shock waves among the court staff and advocates staged a protest to stop using OA’s.
Meanwhile, human rights activists had approached the court and filed a petition demanding action against Vimala Devi. Principal District Judge S Kumaraguru who asked the judge to ask his mother report for an inquiry.
Based on the order, Vimala Devi came to the court and explained her condition.
Later, she told reporters that the charge was false and that she was not well on the day, she was accused to have branded the OA with a hot ladle.
