Speaking to DTNext, a top official said that details of those involved in the scam, including the candidates and the TRB staff, are being collected and an FIR will be filed soon.
The scam came to light in November after many candidates who scored high marks raised a suspicion after they were not called for certificate verification. After TRB released the copies of OMR answer sheets, it was found out that nearly 200 candidates’ marks were altered during scanning of answer sheets.
The TRB had conducted the examination for filling 1,058 lecturer posts, in September for which 1.33 lakh candidates appeared.
Meanwhile, the forgery wing of CCB has arrested an Assistant Section Officer Perumal of Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) for allegedly issuing unanswered answer sheets to one of the candidates, Ramkumar. Perumal is the fifth person to have been arrested in the case, while TNPSC Section Officer Sivasankaran, Ramkumar and Paul Raj have already been remanded in judicial custody.
Paul Raj is said to be the mastermind of the scam, who has many cheating cases pending against him. A CCB official said that an advocate, who helped Ramkumar in the entire episode, will be arrested soon.
