Special prayers were held for the slain inspector, at his native village of Salaipudhur on the 16th day after his death. Joseph said that after completion of the rituals, Munisekar had visited their house at 11 pm and sought an apology from Banurekha, wife of Munisekar, and Vellapandi, father of Banurekha.
Joseph also said that Munisekar had narrated the entire incident to the family. He had told them that when they went in search of the burglars they were all of a sudden surrounded by the gang and they had to make a hasty retreat.
But, they did not realise that Periyapandian was caught. “I immediately went back but was pelted by stones. I fell down and managed to shoot at the gang. Unfortunately, the bullet hit Periyapandian,” narrated Munisekar.
