However, noting that a pending inquiry on a similar event conducted earlier will not bar the association from organising or conducting similar events, Justice Sureshkumar refused any relief to the petitioner.

Even as all the big names in the Tamil film industry are assembled at Malaysia including Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan for the star night and cultural programme, the Madras High Court on Friday refused to restrain the South Indian Artistes Association (SIAA) from holding the programme on January 6.
Justice R Sureshkumar refused to grant any relief on the plea moved by one Varaaki claiming that since an investigation into allegations of misappropriation of the association’s funds by the office-bearers during a similar event conducted in 2016 is still pending, the association should not be allowed to hold the event. However, noting that a pending inquiry on a similar event conducted earlier will not bar the association from organising or conducting similar events, Justice Sureshkumar refused any relief to the petitioner.
