Petitioner Radhakrishnan had stated that the girivalam path is highly crowded and encroached upon by more than 2,000 shops. There is no space for devotees to walk and despite several petitions to the HR & CE and other officials, but still there was no action. So, the court should direct the state government to remove the encroachments, prayed the petitioner.
When the petition was heard by judges, N Kirubakaran and R Tharani, counsel of the petitioner argued that policemen take bribe and permit the shop keepers to encroach the girivalam path.
Then the judges directed the Dindigul police to file a report on removal of encroachments and directed the state government to fix CCTV cameras in the girivalam path.
Also, the Dindigul police were directed to file reports about the illegal structures near the hill and the case was adjourned to January 24.
